Next Tuesday: Riverne Site A01 and (hopefully) Road Forks. This puts us up to Diabolos.
Details/Prep/Yadda Yadda:
For Riverne Site A01, I've already got the required rare/ex items to pass through the displacements, but just in case anyone wants to farm extras (they will be needed for Ouryu anyway), Giant Scales are dropped off the Wyverns inside Riverne. They have a fairly good droprate (1/3 I'd say).
This is also a good chance to kill some hippogryphs for feathers in prep for Ouryu.
Beastiary: Clusters - Do not want. Sight/magic aggro Wyverns - Sight aggro, nasty TP moves. Hippogryphs - True Sight aggro. Everything else - nonaggressive.
So basically, bring your own invis. Sneak isn't necessary.
Meds: Melee: Hi-Potions (lots), Yellow Liquids (3-5), Reraise (either item or earring), Regen Drinks (2-3, persikos and pear are best. Persikos is expensive though) Mages: Yagudo Drinks (2-4), Reraise (item or earring), ethers (at your discretion, none if you're confident) All: Prism Powder, Invis spell, or Tonko powders, depending.
BC: Basically, this BC is 3 mammets. Each one has the same name, and they will constantly swap jobs throughout the battle. Yellow Liquids, when used, lock a mammet in a specific job for a short period of time (30-60 seconds). Here's a summary of the jobs:
Warrior: Extremely fast attack speed, high damage, very dangerous weaponskills. Avoid. Monk (i.e. no job): Slow attack speed, relatively harmless. Try to stick in this job if you see it. Dragoon: Weakest of all forms. Low attack speed, damage, and accuracy. Keeper. Black mage: Most dangerous job, must be silenced. Spams AoE magic. Good idea to run (if kiting) if it switches to this job unless it is silenced.
In all forms the mammets are highly resistant to gravity and 100% resistant to sleep. It's not recommended to rely on gravity unless elemental seal is behind it.
Mammets also use a TP attack called "Transmogrification", which immediately makes all physical attacks heal instead of damage. It's recommended one of the DD's make a "TRANSMOGRIFICATION!!!! <call>" macro to let everyone know.
Basic strategy: 2 Kiters, 2 mages, 2 DDs. "Kiters" don't necessarily run from the mammets, they just keep the 2 busy. Ninjas, Summoners, Thieves, and talented Red Mages all make good kiters.
2 kiters each claim a mammet, and the DDs immediately use 2hrs and blitz the one remaining mammet. It will spam TP attacks due to all the focused assault on it, so expect it. Their TP attacks ALL hurt badly (200+ AoE badly).
If you fail to kill a single mammet before wiping, leave and re-enter as it's not worth the trouble of trying to reraise and try again. You must kill a mammet.
After each kill, mammets will drop yellow liquids. Have a designated lotter, or just tell everyone they need to lot or pass immediately to make full use of the liquids. Use these to lock the mammets in either the dragoon or hand-to-hand jobs.
After the BC, Road Forks (i.e. cutscene hell)
Cutscenes: Airship Dock in Port Bastok. Cid @ Metalworks (upstairs, central room) Neptune's Spire @ Lower Jeuno (check the door inside) Palace @ Ru'Lude Gardens
Now the path divides into 2 parts, San d'Oria and Windurst sections.
San d'Oria: Zone in @ North San d'Oria Arnau @ North San d'Oria Cathedral Chasalvige @ Manuscript Room in San d'Oria Cathedral
Now you must do a NM fight (soloable at 75, uncapped). Zone in to Carpenter's Landing from Jugner (E-6 entrance). Guilloud @ Carpenter's Landing (H-10) will spawn the NM Malboro. Nothing special. Talk to Guilloud again. Hinaree @ South San d'Oria (B-6)
Windurst: Zone in @ Windurst Waters Ohbiru-Dohbiru @ Windurst Waters (J-9, Rhinostery) Yoran-Moran @ Windurst Walls (on map) Kyume-Romeh @ Windurst Waters (F-10, inside Tavern) Honoi-Gomoi @ Windurst Waters (E-7, southern map of Waters). You should get a Mimeo Mirror at this point (key item). Yoran-Moran @ Windurst Walls
Next is a NM fight @ Attowah Chasm, uncapped. Soloable at 75, but duo or better is recommended. Head to K-8 in Attowah Chasm and look for "Loose Sand", clicking this will spawn an Antlion NM. He runs back to his spawn point when he's damaged and recovers HP very quickly, so Bind + gravity + stun are recommended, but not needed.
Check the Loose Sand again for a Mimeo Egg. Now you have to climb the mountain. All I can tell you about the mountain is to bring a guide. Oh, and the starting point is just west of the loose sand, and you mostly travel counter-clockwise around the mountain for a long time.
Once you reach the top, head to the center and click the Cradle of Rebirth for a cutscene. You should get 3 Mimeo Feathers. If you fail to climb the first time, you may have to go check the Loose Sand again for another egg. But you don't have to fight the NM again.
CS - Yoran-Oran @ Windurst Walls Yujuju @ Port Windurst (M-6) Tosuka-Porika @ Northern Windurst Waters (G-8) Yoran-Oran @ Windurst Walls
Cid @ Metalworks (after completing both Windurst & San d'Oria legs) Zone in @ Lower Jeuno Neptune's Spire door @ Lower Jeuno Monberaux @ Upper Jeuno (infirmary) Ghebi Damomohe @ Lower Jeuno (I-7, Tenshodo)
Chip Farming This part can be soloed, but duo/trio is recommended. You need 1 colored rare/ex chip dropped in Pso'Xja to get a pass to Pso'Xja to enter the Diabolos BC.
Recommendation: Nue Tower (NW corner of Beaucidine) entrance, fight snow lizards and diremites (should be TW to 75) til they drop a chip. Read Erecia's guide and Killing Ifrit's guide for alternate locations if these don't work for you.
After you obtain your chip, bring it back to Ghebi Damomohe to get your pass + 500 gil.
You're ready for Diabolos! Congratulations!
