Prepare for Ballista Royale![/span]
The contest begins on October 15th, when preliminary tournaments will commence on each World. An inter-World tournament will follow, which will determine North America's true "Ballistars"! Uniquie in-game items and titles will be awarded to all teams who pass thier World's trials!

What is Ballista Royale?[/span]
Ballista Royale is a special riles Ballista tournament where teams of 6 players (up to 10 players can be registered on the roster) compete against each other for the North American championship.
First, 16 teams on each World (selected by lottery) will participate in a preliminary tournament to determine which team will be the representative for that World.
Then, the representative teams from all 32 worlds will compete in a speciall prepared World for the inter-World ballista championship.
The Progress and results of the championship will be available on the FINAL FANTASY XI offcial website at
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/. Ballista veterans and beginners alike are invited to join us for this exciting event!

Entry Requirements[/span]
The requirements to enter the BAllista Royale tournament are as follows:
(Note: you do not need the in-game key item "Ballista License to enter the tournament.)
•A team of 6 to 10 players with a designated leader must be formed. Only 6 team members can participate in any one match. The participating members can be selected or changed before each match.
•One special rule for this tournament is that the 6 team members participating in a match must all have differant jobs. An overlap between the participating members and the non-participating members is allowed, however.
•Each player must have the "FINAL FANTASY XI: Chains of Promathia" expansion disk installed on thier console or PC, and be registered with the "Chains of Promathia" expanded service.
•Each participant acknowleges that, when becoming finalists, he/she is required to be physically present at the location of the Final Tournament. However, as a sole exception, up to 3 participants per team may join the matches from any locations via Internet.
*If the finalist is a minor, it will be necessary to obtain consent from his/her parent or legal guardian to attend the Final Tournament.
*The participants acknowlage that Square Enix and the sponsors will not pay or reimburse any expenses incurred by the participants for attending the Final Tournament, including but not limited to trasportation or lodging.

How to Enter[/span]
You can enter Ballista Royale through the following steps:
1) The designated team leader applies first using the "Team Entry" application form, and enters the necessart information. The "Team Name" and "Team Password" entered here will be needed by prospective team members to apply through "Member Entry," so team leaders should make sure to pass this information along to each member.
*Only one entry is allowed per PlayOnline ID, and the applicant can only be the leader or member of one team.2) After the Team Entry application is processed, applicants who wish ro be members of the team can apply through the "Member Entry" application form.
*Up to 10 members can be registered on a team.
*The team leader does not need to apply through the "Member Entry" form.
*Once an applicant is registered as a member of a team, that applicant cannot register as a leader or member of another team.•
Confirming Entry StatusEntry status can be checked using the follow procedure:
Team leaders: Slect "Team Entry"
Team members: Select "Member Entry"
*A list of all registered team members will be displayed when the command is selected.The team leader can cancel entry into the tournament by going to the "Team Entry" screen and disbanding the team (when a team is disbanded, a notification will be sent to each registered member via PlayOnline mail). Team members can cancel thier own entry into the tournament by going to the "Members Entry" screen.
*New entires will not be accepted for any reason after the application period.[span style=\'font-size:12pt;line-height:100%\']
Preliminary Tournament[/span]
After the application period has concluded, 16 registered teams will be chosen by lottery to participate in a preliminary tournament in each World.
Tournament trees and match results for each World will be posted on the official Ballista Royale site. The team that wins the preliminary tournament on each World will represent that World in the Ballista Royale site.
*Members of teams selected by lottery to participate in the preliminary tournament will receive notification via PlayOnline mail.
*The set match times for the tournament cannot be changed or postponed for any reason. [ Tournament Flow ]
1) Log in to FINAL FANTASY XI with the character that has been selected to participate in the preliminary tournament.
Speak to the NPC named Tillecoe in Ru'Lude Gardens, and receive the item required to participate in the Ballista Royale (either the "Wyvern Codex" or the "Griffon Codex"). The item will be inscribed with the match times for the character's team.
*All team members who wish to participate in a match must recieve the item before the match time.
*If the item is discarded, it can be obtained through the same procedure if it is before the match time.2) When it is time for a match, trade the abovementioned item back to the NPC named Tillecoe, and the character will be transported to the match area "Diorama Abdahljs - Ghelsba."

The Ballista Royale Tournament[/span]
The Ballista Royale Tournament will take place ina specially prepared World, and all representative teams will be moved here.
*Members of teams selected to participate in the Ballista Royale Tournament will receive detailed information via PlayOnline mail.The Championship Battles are planned to be held at a live event.

Special Rules for Ballista Royale[/span]
The Ballista Royale tournament (including preliminary tournaments) will use the following special rules:
•Players allowed in a match: 6 per team
•Maximum number of team members: 10
(Participating members can be selected/changed before each match)
•The 6 team members participating in any one match must all have differant jobs
•Support jobs: Not allowed (disabled during matches)
•Level Restriction (maximum): 60
•Level Restriction (minimum): None
•Equipment restriction: None
•Briefing period (roll call to start of match): 3 minutes
•Single match length: 20 mins
•Match style: All or nothing
•1st Petra selection: Not allowed
•Petra holes: Some empty
•One-time scoring limit: 3 per player
•Called games: None
•Number of Rooks: 1
•Petral shovel usage: Allowed
•Temporary item distribution: Yes
(5 given at start of match, maximim of 10 can be carried)
Voucher exchange: Not allowed
*Only players participating in a match can enter the match area.
*Match entry/entry cancellation will not be allowed after the breifing period.
*Teams with 0 participating players automaticall forfeit the match.
*In the case of a draw, the team with the high scorer will be declared the winner. If there is no high scorer, the winning team will be decided by tournament judges,
