By the look of things, I'm going to be doing a rank 5 run with Nikopiko and Soulhunter this weekend (exact date/time not set yet)... I figure Paradyce just hit rank 4 and such, and I know we have others that need to catch up in that regard (Tenka, Aaramaat, etc), so I figure we could make a nice little group to go after it. Safety in numbers, eh? (or mass death, could go either way)... but ANYWAYS, if anyone is interested in joinin up let me know and make sure that you're caught up in missions (and have already accepted rank 5 mission by this weekend).
In case you want to read up and be ready for it, I went and got a link to a good walkthrough for it from allakhazam:
Rank 5 WalkthroughFair warning ahead of time, this quest will cost you about 800gil to do (for Couerl Meat, i believe thats what i paid for it back in the day) as well as 4 chocobos (most likely from crags, I'd allow at least 2k gil for that part, possibly more). Keep in mind that upon completion of this mission you will receive 10,000gil (and your Airship Pass!!!). On top of this, it will likely take a few hours to complete, depending on how many people we have in the group. The preperation will probably take bout 10 minutes (talking to all NPCs, etc, inside jeuno).. the Davoi part I estimate will take 20 minutes or so (tele to dem, choco to davoi, run in and watch cutscene, cake), the oztroja part i estimate 30 minutes (tele to mea, run in, get lost, get aggro, kill stuff, get lost a little more, finally make it to inside, watch cutscene) and the beadeaux part i estimate will take about an hour to an hour and a half to do (mostly waiting for NM spawns and having to do two trips, one to get items and one to get magicite.. the reason i say hour to hour and a half is because of potentially having to wait for more NM spawns as each one drops on average 3 of the item required and we may need more than that).
I suggest for anyone coming along on this mission that you be using a job minimum level 40. Quite frankly, it can be done at level 10 though with help on the two NMs to fight, but the aggro factor weighs in a touch and i'd feel safer if people could take a few hits...
On a side note, I've heard people say "why rank up? its a waste of time" ... i'm gonna give 5 quick reasons:
1) Ranking up = more professional & experienced look ... when people look for someone to invite to party and they see u and someone identical, and you're rank 5 and they're rank 1, take a quick guess who they'd choose.
2) Gil! (and airship pass, duh) ... you'll make 10k on this rank, u make 20k on the next rank, etc. it just keeps getting better and better. plus, this is fairly easy gil to make, and keep in mind gil is just a side reward to the whole deal, you're getting something even better done at the same time
3) More conquest points!! The higher rank you are, the more conquest points you are rewarded as you fight... which brings me to my next point
4) LONGER SIGNET. Ever take a party out in crawlers nest, lose signet, and have to run ALL the way back to jeuno? sucks, doesnt it? Well the length signet lasts is calculated by: <Your current rank> + <your country's current position> ... for example, if you're from san d'oria and you're rank 5, your signet will almost always last 5+1 hours (muahahaha, yes i am biased, and rightfully so... san d'oria kicks ass, windurst can lick my swass dray).
5) More options for CP spending (to earn gil or just get yourself kick-ass equip for free)...
Plus on top of all that there's always the story line to follow for you real gamers out there
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For people who already have rank 5 (namely the higher level guys, 60+) havin one or two of u around to help out really wouldnt hurt... I'm planning on going as 56 drg/whm, meaning i'll have sneak/invis, but not much MP, and we will have a whm, but still if we get a rather larger group then getting all buffed up with sneak and invis could get bothersome, so any of u guys who could sub whm (or are whm main) would be a great help, PLUS for the headhunter NM i remember he wasn't that tough but then again we did have a decent sized, decent level group at the time, and my memory could be off, so anyone who's willing to come along to fight that guy a couple times would be great help. Oh, and for oztroja.. i have that guide, but otherwise dont really know the way through >< ... so if anyone knows oztroja well, help on that is also appreciated.. and a blm with warpII would be nice to cut down on chocos &/or warp scrolls ...
hmmm..hope i didnt miss anything...
