LS events?

So, I was bored and browsin through the PS2 boards (during work hours, naturally   ) and i saw some posts by Professor.. so i clicked on his little link for the specialists' linkshell page, and started browsing their boards.. and something they do that we dont, which i think could be fun, is LS events... like little competitions and such maybe... scavenger hunts perhaps? ideally stuff that everyone could participate in..

one idea i saw that i liked that i propose we do is a scavenger hunt, perhaps we could do it in teams or somethin... problem is people would likely cheat and buy shit off AH (if they can afford it) ...haha.. and for actual participation, given the ppl in our LS, im bettin prizes would be req'd, and they'd have to be good...  ... anyways, anyone got any input?

I've been thinking about those sort of Ls events, and we could do a lot, but we need the LS to cooperate.

I still think a mass suicide in Jueno would be fun, and maybe a concert if we get a few of us to do the Bard quest, buy a few songs, and play some songs in Jueno hahahahaha

My pt ended up in gustav lastnite so i finished off brd on the way in... but thats the stupidest idea i've ever heard. i once saw someone spamming (for a constant 30 mins) in yuhtunga & kazham "CONCERT IN SAN D'ORIA EVERYONE GO NOW"  .. "EVERYONE GO TO SAN D'ORIA FOR A BIG FREE CONCERT"  ... "EVERYONE, CONCERT IN SAN D'ORIA GO THERE AS FAST AS YOU CAN"  .... fuck i wish i remembered who that was... they spammed that shit every 2 seconds ... god.... point being, concert idea = stupid. ...

as for the death idea me and theref were workin on WAY back when, yeah.. i got 9 papillons saved up, so we can all put our wings on and then die together, green pearls showing with pride. as we said before, jeuno would be fun but not many people would actually see it (cuz of huge #s of people and long load times) ..but i'm up for it. make a big line of bodies across from the AH, or perhaps a little graveyard near the HP or even the guidestone....

but anyways, i was talking about more active events.... i still like that scavenger hunt idea.  we could have people gather items like Aspir Knife (easy NM drop, guaranteed in giddeus)...shit like that that we can show that we got (by equipping) and at the same time is rare/ex so we cant buy from AH... do it in teams or something, and have enough items on the list that it'll take like 2-3 hours to do and everyone will be spread out (so we dont have everyone competing for spawns).. and then offer a reward that people will actually want, like a gold ingot or something...

I still got a few pappillions and ouka ramens I think... I'll check my AH, I can toss them off to LS members intrested if I still got em, short on gil but I dont recall them being worth much.

We could do Chocobo races, too. Or even a Relay race where the team has to have an actual baton they have to hunt. The problem would be if we have say- teams of 3- would be getting the other members in the team into thier positions for the first leg to start running.

Maybe we have them hunt a rare/ex item thats relatively easy to get, then traded in for a normal item at an NPC?

I was thinking an orcish axe, but there is no way to prove that you have it, and there is no way to pass it on as a baton.

To prevent cheating for the baton, we dont tell them what it will be until RIGHT before the race. I dunno... now it's sounding too complicated. Maybe we just stick to a normal race or a relay without any baton.. or no relay at all... now mind is wandering....

As for getting ppl to come to the site, the easyset way I can think of, outsied of pics of tenka, is paying gil.

Say like: go to the boards to find out how to earn 1k. And we'll have a post to bring me a flame degen or something and I'll give them 1k... or something totally retarded like that. But again... half of that crap can be bought at the AH, and totally ruins the fun.

I saw another LS just all change to a level 1 job, and pwn the n00b area. So we could all just change to lvl 1 jobs and pwn W ron.

I'm not a fan of races, bobo races I *CAN* do, but footraces that alot of LSs do are just annoying.

Perhaps we do something like the Great American Race?

You start in Sandy with a LV 1 Job, and you have to get to Jueno. Or if We want to make it really tough, have them pick someone up in Gusgen mines or something.

The relay race is a good idea, or at least a tag-team type of race deal.. and we can have moderators say at each point, so we'd be able to make sure that the person actually got there... but then theres the whole whm tele'n and blm warpin thing that could likely lead to cheating   .... as for lvl 1's pwnin west ron or somethin, thats been done before. in fact i do it every time i start a new job. boring :\   ...

but i like the whole lvl 1 job deal... in fact, i dont know if u guys know Showcool, but he started a new char (showcoolpal) and i ran into him in konschtat .. didnt know him at the time, and he's sittin there, lvl 1 taru with a little "?" over his head, lookin scared shitless in front of some quadav... so im like "dude you're goin the wrong way" and he tells me he's determined to get to jeuno... so i told him if he actually made it without dyin i'd be so impressed that i'd throw 10k his way ... little shit actually made it too, so i was payin up 30 mins later... but anyways, a challenge like that might be fun. doesnt even have to be over a long distance, can just be somethin like travellin through ghelsba and first one to die by the hand of warchief vatgit wins..

I as I said in my post am totally against long range foot races. I've never seen one thats justifies the annoyance (hell I can farm most rewards in time it takes them to run it >_>)

I do take a break from the game, thats why I level and earn gil in spurts.

Its not fun to run across for like an hour or two across country, only to eaither A) Get first for 1/10th what you could do in the same time, Not get first and get nothing, C) Die.

So make it a simple race... level 1 char, u gotta run to delkfutts tower from jeuno or somethin.  at night.  no potions allowed either.  entry fee: 2k gil, winner takes all.  we'll do it allianced so that we can all see everyones progress as we go

at night too. or we could do a capture the flag idea.... hehhee...just thought of this one.. instead of capture the flag its "capture the kraken" ... we start by someone aggro'n kraken,  and bringing him out to the middle of qufim (by the pond say) ... we'll be split into teams, each team with a base somewhere ... call for help on it, and each team tries to take it back to their base... whoever gets it to their base first wins. see who can hold best aggro    of course then we'd probably get invincibles and such coming into play which would kinda make it too easy...... but it'd be funny to see all the n00bs panic as we're runnin around provoking kraken and not actually fighting it. of course idiots would probably try to help... :\   nevermind my idea sucks.

if it is a choco race or what not. Bad idea lag prohitbit someone seeing another cross the line first and it didn't happen =\ the lvl 1 relay is killer idea tho. i would run my nin there for shits...never really liked nin.
