It's not a Quest.  You go to Yughott Grotto and farm the crap outta Orcish Fighters until one drops a Red Cryptex (Rare/EX). It drops for me (32DRG/16THF) after around 20 kills. I also have only ever gotten the drop in the lower floor of Yughott Grotto... dunno if you can get it upstairs. Take the Cryptex to the Outpost in West Ronfaure and trade it to the knight there.

You need a minimum of ten players and a maximum of 12. 6 NPC fighters will assist you, too. The more NPCs that you keep alive, the better the drops. EVERYONE gets between 800-2000 gil and a (1) Dragon Chronicle always drops. It also gives you a little bit of Conquest Points.

Buff the crap out of your alliance and trade the Cryptex to begin Level Cap and battle. The level cap is 20. There are 3.5 waves of Orcs that attack you.

The first wave is easy... probably meant to give you a false sense of security. Kill the Chaussers (Rangers) first then move onto the Fighters.

The second wave has a bit more challenge to it. Kill the Chaussers first again and watch for the Cursemakers to pop. When they do, KILL THEM IMMEDIATELY. They Cure and use Poisonga on your alliance... not fun.

The third wave is similar to second wave only 2 Serjeants pop as well. Just when you think you're about to win, an Orcish Fighterchief (Monk) will pop and most likely use 100 Fists on the closest enmitied character... killing any mage or poorly healed melee. At this point, you focus all your attacks on the Chief while you have two Vokers taking on the two Cursemakers if they are still there. You CAN save all your TP for Chief, but just focusing your attack should do it if your party is strong enough.

You win! Your drops will be dependant on the NPCs left alive. I got 1000 gil, Dragon Chronicle, and Garrison Tunic the first time (I'm a lucky lotter). My LS mate got Garrison Hose. Second time, I got 800 gil and LS mates got Garrison Gloves and Dragon Chronicles. Third time, I got 1400 gil and Garrison Hose. Mates got Gloves and Tunic.

The gear is nice... originally sold for 100k, but is now down to a steady 30k a piece with Tunic a little higher (Asura). I don't see the big deal really, but thats mainly cuz I don't generally stay Level 18-21 very long with my chars

Hehe, sounds like something I'd do. I can go as Pld or Sam, both at level 17, which wont be too hard to get to 20, when we decide what to do next.

Well from the sound of it we need a few WHMs... say we take 12 people into this, i figure one healer for each PT, and a third healer for the NPCs (assuming you CAN heal them)... and we'd need at least 2 or 3 tanks/vokers... beyond that its all damage dealers.  Alternatively we could scratch the extra mage and just make sure the melees hold aggro and not let NPCs get any

Well I figure get a big group together of 12 of us that can stick around for a few hours, go to yughott and split up on the two levels and just rape shit for like 30 mins, we should be able to get 2 or 3 more easily.... (from what i hear they drop easier than keys there, and keys are dropped within 2-10 mins every time in my experience with yughott)...

given that we need so many people, the more cryptexes we get the better, cuz otherwise loot will be slim.  but on the up side, i was lookin in AH and the garrison gloves (only one i saw, wasnt looking for em) go for 150k atm, none in stock in jeuno.  so if we get ONE item right there its over 10k each, and supposedly if u keep more NPCs alive u get several items, PLUS dragon chronicles (which i guess we'd all have to lot on, but in a fair sense, i.e. if you got one last fight you dont lot)...

I got one Red Cryptex a few months ago, and have been farming Yughott weekly since without another drop. I know you can only have one Ghelspa Chest key in your inventory but at least you see when one is being dropped. So I don't know if they are that easy to get, or if the game just won't give me another one. You may want to try to get a couplpe peopleto farm them prior to getting the group toghether, just so we know we have a few to go with.

Yeah, after speaking to people today (and hunting Yughott for keys) I am siding with dragon.. im almost under the impression they started it off with a higher drop rate so that people would get interested and try it out, but now they've dropped it down... guess they cant make it too easy to get em, gettin one is like gettin 40 seals...

still, think of it mini-BCNM wise... on an average BCNM you walk off with 10k-20k in goods each (unless u get uber drop), with this if u get 2 or 3 good items (and i hear u can get even more) then u walk away with 10k-20k in goods each.... but here we can do as many as 12 in one sitting if we each have one of these cryptexes, and no saving up of stupid seals and shit and travelling to jeuno to trade for orbs which are rare/ex and all that crap.  If we decide we want more, its a 2 min run to yughott.

I have done this its a real bitch. but it should be fun. First time i did it i was with some other ls and they had no idea what to do.we got to the 3rd wave when the 2 whm died. Then all the npc's died. so it was a total waste of my time. but sure ill do it. and i already have the cryptex. just tell me what to bring. 25drg or my 33thf. and i know the lvl cap is 20.

dunno if that smn thing is a good idea.. it would mean keeping them in the back healing till the big shabangabag we'd be the big bombers
