I figured everyone must be using some sorta online guide they found to help them with the game, so why don't we consolidate our collection. I will update this thread for quick references as I get more feedback. Here is what I have so far..

General Wiki

http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/  <-- Official Site
http://www.eorzeapedia.com/wiki/en/Main_Page <-- very thorough guide
http://ffxiv.yg.com/ <--- Database of information, including mob spawns, feildcrafting points and more. Thanks Omni! Cheesy
http://db.ffxivarchives.com <--- Another database site
http://ffxivzam.com/ <--- Another one with good wiki guide to everything..
http://ffxiv.zam.com/wiki/Sephrick%27s_Beginner%27s_Guide:Basics_%28FFXIV%29 <-- good beginner guide

Guildleves

Job Skills

http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/11110-how-to-craft <--- Beginner Crafting Guide (Thanks Krash)

http://www.ffxivrecipes.info/index.php <--- Guild Crafting Recipes (Thanks Tanat)

http://ffxiv.yg.com/  <--- good for recipes too, and it'll tell you if any npc sells the materials you need or link to recipes on the materials..

Macros

http://www.eorzeapedia.com/wiki/en/Macros

Random/General Notes and Tips

- Leve is the way to go for leveling up anything.

- Behest happens every hour at the crystals (so I was told)

- To change your spell to aoe/single target, either use the text macro or click on the button that says AoE after you choose a spell. You'll see 2 arrows appearing beside the button after you click it, which means all your spells have become AoE, unless you change it back.

- You can find the conjurer opening weapon in Gridania in the Carpenter shop. Most if not all the other ones should be available in the market.

- Changing jobs with macros will make the game much more enjoyable.. this is what I have to say change between Thaumatage to Botanist

Thaumaturge

/equip main "Weathered Scept"
/equipaction 2 "Scourge"      <---- the number represents the action slot.. it needs to start at 2 because 1 is taken by the default melee action..
/equipaction 3 "Banish"
..etc

if you want to equip secondary skills.. say conjuring skills on thaumaturge.. your macro should look like /equipaction 3 "Thunder" sub

Botanist
/equip main "Weathered Hatchet"
/equip sub "Bronze Scythe"
/equipaction 2 "Arbor Call"

- F9, F11, F12 still work for target self, target closest npc, and target party member.. I forgot the other ones..

- a trick to get to a name in chat faster instead of CTRL+R: (Thanks Omni)

>[Spacebar]
>[Tab]
>[Up Arrow Key]
>Select "Audience"

Hardware mouse is your regular mouse pointer in windows, as opposed to some graphical thing thats drawn by the game.

My hero!

I was just thinking about the mouse thing last night!  In FFXI using hardware or software mouse was an option. I don't know exactly how it all works, but basically software means the game is doing all the work to move the mouse on the screen when you move your actual mouse. Hardware mouse is basically using the mouse you see in Windows but just changing the way it looks.

Software mouse might look better, thats about the only advantage I can thing of, but it lags like a mofo and is basically useless. A hardware mouse will really help with targeting things and navigating some of the menus

Ohh and making macros! Using the mouse to click the right slots to type in macros was BRUTAL.. but read the guide carefully though. MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP if you are using that patch cos supposedly it will make future patches abit more tricky.

So, been trying my hand at crafting recently and I hadn't really put enough thought into it as far as the different colors of the actual object is concerned.

VERY helpful if you're having alot of botched syntheses.

having trouble with /tells? Ctrl+r only works once you've already replied to someone, and its kind of picky about which name it recalls, even if you hit ctrl+r multiple times.

so here's a trick to get a name faster:

>[Spacebar]
>[Tab]
>[Up Arrow Key]
>Select "Audience"

A list of names you've conversed with will come up.

They fixed the stupid emote dance for Gridania, I was able to do it without help. Glad they fixed that.
