Character names will carry over to official release from beta, only if you stay on the same server. That being said, we need an official server. I played on Jecht for the Beta test, however there was a very large linkshell called "Curahee" from the website FFXIV Core that had made Jecht its home camp, and I'd actually rather stay away from them. |

I was on Shadowlord >.> I don't really care though...I just need to know'ish since I have two friends I constantly play FFXI with who're going to play FFXIV as well. All get together in one giant party and mirk things~

if the official is same as beta.. kefka was SO busy.. my gameplay ran twice as fast on Jecht and there was no competition at all.. kefka was ridiculously packed.. so I don't recommend Kefka.. we start again anyways right we don't continue our chars from previous beta?
How was shadowlord like Suka?
MissRox - you aren't using your own squareenix account right? I remember you said you are playing your friend's beta.. so you won't be able to keep your char name anyways unless you plan you use your friend's account for the official play? I'm just guessing, correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok, well here's what's happening: There was a small list of servers for the Beta available (at least according to this page http://ffxiv-status.com/ ). Right now, that page does not show any server names, but it is showing a much larger list of unknowns. That page doesn't look official, but we can probably assume there will be more servers than were in the Beta. With any lack of better information, here is the decision: - NOT Jecht to avoid any unnecessary conflict and get bossed around by larger linkshells
- NOT Kefka because he is a pretty popular villan, and as already seen in the Beta, it's probably going to get swamped. Not that busy is a bad thing, but lets hope for a happy medium.
- SHADOWLORD it is! I don't really have any other server names to go on, and no negative comments thus far about that server.

Yeah, Shadowlord was pretty cool after beta 3. I didn't play a lot since no one really partied, but, once you move out of the very first camp area or so and get 10+, there were a lot of options for mobs to fight. I even had a few areas of wharf rats all to my self day after day for hours at a time next to a crystal. It was pretty nice  I work tonight from 3pm-9pm, and then I might have to finish up a little bit of work. Are we going to use BB's vent server to meet up? My friend Thedarkavenger (Dark) from FFXI would probably not mind us using his vent if not; that's where I usually hang. I'll ask him before I post the info, though (even though I'm an admin on it). |

I am downloading the open beta updates as we speak. My account still worked, so I am all ready for the open beta in...7 more hours worth of downloading...except that they announced they found some show stopping bugs they are going to fix before opening it up again.
Also, the FFXIV site says you can move your character to the release version provided you stay on the same server as you used in beta...so we all have to make sure we are on SHADOWLORD.

I was pretty bummed that I spent all day downloading to find that the open beta is delayed....Meh! Well I hope to see you guys on Shadowlord soon enough..

Microsoft Security Essentials detects the install routine as a DOS virus. I tried it twice and it failed both times (after downloading the updated files with the installer).
I have now turned off the real time scan and am trying again...this does not bode well. Do any of you also use MSE?
EDIT: It installed properly after turning off the Microsoft Security Essentials real time scanning. I am going to turn it back on and run a system scan to see if it still considers the application a virus.

If anyone knows "Thedarkavenger" or "Zarc" from Seraph (now Bismark...), they're some of my super-awesome friends :O "Anubls", dark's dad, will probably play too >.> Seems like we might have a good alliance/starting LS for this game xD now that the party size is like, 15 people |

Just wanted everyone to know there are new downloads for the open beta, D2010.09.01.2000. There are two files.
These files were not here this morning, so if you have version D2010.08.27.2001 you need to update your files.
