Hey guys...school is starting up soon and I just wanted to see if you guys all had a good summer...and didn't play that game TOO much.

I went up to northern California (yosemite area) and stayed in a house on a lake for a little over a week.  Went wakeboarding and we had a couple of wave runners...it was pretty sweet.  I've been spending time with the GF and my old friends over here and I worked at my sister's new house to make some money.  Overall I've had a pretty good summer.  I fly back next Saturday, but I'm looking forward to starting college back up.  Core, Omni, Baha...you'll love it.

Give me an update on who is what level/job, who took mine and baudan's place as the uberest of uber, who quit, etc etc.  Any cool changes to the game?  I miss you guys and I miss the game.  I get so bored sometimes while my GF is at work and end up playing fuckin diablo 2..WOW.

Let me know what's up guys.

heh, I just got back from 2 weeks out at Myrtle Beach, which was nice. I havn't really done anything at all in FFXI over the past few months, but I have been playing. Now that I am back from vacation, and seeing that Drg is a job in desperation, I'm gunna try Whm/Smn. I'll never be a therefused Tongue

I've got a g/f now, and our local arcade has DDR, and with college and such goin on, I wont be so obsessive over FFXI as I once was, but I have no plans on quitting. I just need to keep R/L in check. Baudan has been on, as well.

The linkshell is still growing, getting memebers all the time. (No n00bs, though)

My jobs atm:

60drg (was 61 for a short time >.>) 30 whm, 30 Sam... 17pld, 6rdm

70 rng here.. good times.  life sucks right now cuz all my friends are out of town save 1 or 2 that work evenings (while i work daytime) so i'm online way too much.  school's about to start now and i'm beginning to think I won't have time for the game at all, considering everything I end up doin in the game takes several hours to complete (i.e. god runs, trigger runs, dynamis, even exp parties)....

I've been quite busy, and my apologies for the website troubles, they were beyond my control. I don't know how much time college is going to take from my life, don't know how much free time I'll have.

Anyway, What I've been up to: First it was a math course I was required to pass as part of my acceptance into the college. Then it was vacation, and after vacation I spent my last few days chilling with friends before I moved off to college. I moved up here (Alfred, NY) wednesday, and classes started today.  If I find I have a lot of free time I may begin playing FFXI again, but I dunno. Before I will admit my parents were paying for FFXI. NOw I don't know if they're still paying- it's been that long since I've logged on. If they arn't I gotta pull money outta my ass because I'm looking at a total of $1000 in school supplies.  Sad

Only $1000? Dude, that's not a lot. My books alone ~$700 lol...$250 for voyage calculator and not to mention all of the rest of the bullshit you need.

You guys should really drop the game before college starts. It's not a good idea to keep it up...trust someone who fucked up his grades cuz of ffxi

you did, not us. Dont ruin our fun. I got A+'s college scholarships and managed to nearly match your level and rank. held down a job, friends i did it all. Lol, just cause you couldnt hold it together doesnt mean we have to quit for sorrow over you...

i personally managed $2000 in scholarships after all my payments, i only had to pay for $400 books. This is my first year in college so everything should go smoothly, one online class, and 2 others macro economics and buisness ethical regulatory such and such crap.

i'll have plenty free time, so now ill need to kill that fun time with a job, but nothing more then $60 a month for car insurance lol... leaving FFXI time and friend hanging out. So my life is going good Smiley too bad i lost a few friends do to changes in our lives, some moved, some couldnt change, some were held down by others.. life sucks sometimes.

I congradulate you, Niko and you're probably a very intelligent person, but some of us, if not most, have trouble balancing so many resposibilities. I promise to play FFXI to the very end, whenever that may be. But When my life suffers due to this game, then I know it's the end. I just hope it's no time soon.

It's interesting, I'm not quite so concerned now that I think about it of FFXI being replaced by schoolwork and such... I'm more concerned of when Halo 2 comes out I won't have time for FFXI (or schoolwork but thats another story) ......

Wow I congratulate you. Some people just never change. You are an asshole niko. Plain and simple. I'm not trying to ruin anyone's fun.

"...just cause you couldnt hold it together doesnt mean we have to quit for sorrow over you..."

What the fuck man. Yea I got all As in high school, I got a $32,000 scholarship, and I got recruited to play college lacrosse. What's your fucking point. College is different. Despite what you may think, moron, taking time to play a game takes time away from other things you could be doing in real life. Not playing this game during your first year at college would be better than playing the game. I said it as a little helpful suggestion to all of the people on this board that are about to start their first year. I think everyone can attest to their first year being potentially better without playing the game.

And where does this "sorrow" bullshit come from?

Here... How about this: Suck my dick.

There were a lot more bigger things affecting my grades than this game. Don't talk to me about not being able to hold it together when you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. My life is better without this game. Go to hell, niko.

Don't really mean to bash on you, but College is much different than HS. I've heard of plenty of A+ HS kids who flunk out of College.

Yeah in college its not a question of "do your homework or play the game" its a question of "go to class or play the game" ... two entirely different things... and then you throw in "get drunk or play the game" and "go out and party or play the game" ... it goes on and on.  I'll give you one thing though: the game is a lot cheaper -.-

fine lable me an asshole. Fits me well. Going to class? not a problem. /laugh classes im taking are a joke. Most law abide classes lol.

Either way, i really don't care who plays or doesn't. It's a stress reliever to me, hang with friends what not. I dont drink or go to bars, (legal age thing and my own views) so im not about to piss $40 there.

If you really have to make a choice between "go to class or play the game" then honestly this game isnt or you. No game on this earth should interfior with anything that important.

also aye high school is 100% different then high school, i knew that long before enduring it.

Theref: lick my nuts. better yet tea bag em. Honestly, if you had the problem in the first place with the game interfering with your social life to that big of an extent? thats a problem. I'm glad you quit then. Cause it must have been more to a game at that point.

Tea bag your nuts? Wow...learn what tea bagging is before you use it in a phrase, lol.

Here we go again. If you take a shitload of time and spend it on that game, then obviously it's affecting your social life whether you believe it or not. It doesn't just take days or weeks to get to the 60+ level range and a high rank (unless you play 24/7). You have spent a good 30+ days on that game (720+ hours) at LEAST. And in that time, I'm sure there was something else to be done that you didn't do.

I did become addicted to the game, but nowhere near as bad as quish  cheesy j/p

I basically didn't like the fact that there were chances to be doing other things, RL things that make life more enjoyable. Stop making it sound like I said "this game was my life and it's all that I ever fuckin did." Why don't you just drop your asshole-ish attitude about the situation and mind your own god damned business? Sounds good to me.

Anyways...ignoring the asshole. How were your first few days at college, core? Are you in school yet omni? When do all of you guys go back that aren't already on campus?

And wtf doesn't baha ever post on the boards? Kick him in the nuts for me.

Things are going good here so far, enjoying the college life. No roomate yet, which is cool. Classes started monday, and most of them seem pretty cool. Nothing too exciting has been going on with me though.

Bahu does need a kick in the nuts. He's discovered this thing called "girls" and he thinks he has to be with them 24/7... or something like that. Anyway, yeah, omni- kick him hard.

I hope Baha's tastes in ladies is improving based on what I heard last time the topic came up o.O

I don't go back until sept 8, i got a while. gonna be kickin it in t-dot for a while (for you uneducated non-canucks thats toronto) before i go back tho.

Niko... heh... give it a semester and come back and talk on the subject.. You don't realize that EASIER classes are WORSE for you Tongue  ... easy classes you feel you waste your time attending and then your attendance slacks and then your grades start to slack.  It's the downfall of most first-years... they attend for the first month or two while shit is all easy and then they slow things down and BAM.. you just failed. And yes, it does happen that fast. Or maybe I just spend my first two years in the university bar and forgot everything >.> ....

It's sad to say that my addiction to this game is a GOOD thing for me in a sense... its dropped my alcohol intake by literally 99% and saves me a LOAD of cash.  Granted my friends don't like that I don't come out as often anymore, but it makes it a special occasion and reason to party every time I do come out that way Smiley  ...

Quish: Not once have i ever missed a day of classes, unless based on illness, or family appointments.

I'm not about to "ditch" a class i pay for..theres no logic in that.

Theref: you say mind my own buisness? yet you made it known that you had a problem, which gave us right to respond. So i did.

I think i'll straight up say it, what happened to you guys isn't the rule, i think you guys are more of the exception. A bad one at that. Whether you think you arn't approaching this as what every college student does, that's how it comes off.

Dictionary.com: Addict: To cause to become physiologically or psychologically dependent on a habit-forming substance: The thief was addicted to cocaine.
To occupy (oneself) with or involve (oneself) in something habitually or compulsively: The child was addicted to video games.

I did become addicted to the game

Go back and read the definition, then read what you wrote. Mind giving me a better word for your problem then?

And also just because i'm pissed off at your citing of the word Tea-bagging here goes a nice pic just for you Smiley found it while rumming google search under Therefused+fag+tea-bagging+favor_for_quish. I can only imagine the dwarf being the closest thing to theref, while quish being the higher gent in the photo. Was this just after graduation? Cause ya'll look totally trashed O.o

yes, dickhead. I was addicted. But I had many other things going on in my life that I was paying attention to as well. An addiction doesn't mean that you spend every waking moment on a fucking game...you just spend too much god damned time playing it. Hence my saying "Stop making it sound like I said 'this game was my life and it's all that I ever fuckin did.'"

Oh and that picture was hilarious. I never laughed harder in my life.

Tip: Don't try to be funny ever again, Niko. It doesn't work for you. Especially when everyone knows that you are a complete asshole.

Being a total asshole doesn't mean i'm not funny. Least you have good taste on the picture, i'm sure your mom placed it on the mantle as one of your accomplishments. Next to the trophy for that particular event you one.

If everyone knows that i'm a "complete" asshole, why are you the first to bring it to attention. Never had a problem with anyone else in this game but you. I'm sure all this anger is from your withdrawls.  Sad  Work through it, it'll get better Theref..

Hm..

It really isn't my intend to get myself involved in a discussion like this...
but I do want to raise a point...if what u guys think what Niko said was completely biased....and does not apply to u guys...then I guess I would hv to raise my voice and give Niko the support he deserves...

I'm in university...same program as u theref and quish...also engineering...and it's my last year next year...and pre-master...but i don't think what Niko said was bogus like the way some of u put it...

i do not see the need to quit the game...i'll definitely spend less time...but I hv to disagree when u said that it'll definitely ruin ur life and school like the way u put it Theref..
you might hv gotten too involved with FF and u saw the need to quit...but for you guys to keep yelling at niko saying that he's completely wrong is just not fair to him...u r being a bit too biased in ur opinion...everyone handles the game differently...it doesn't hv to necessarily ruin ur life...it could also add to it

lemme give u some examples...

Roshi, mana seph are RL frds.... they always grp together and wait for each other to do stuff together on FF....the game bring them together and allow them to get a chance to hv fun...

I also play with my RL frds in the game...and we talk over the phone while we do it... so instead of only thinking that it ruins ppl's life...i think it could also add to it...

I'm not trying to point out specifically who's rite and who's wrong...i understand what u were trying to say Theref and yes it was a fair warning...but i just want to point out that Niko did hv a point in what he said....and he doesn't deserve how's he's being treated...

Wow im not going to say anything anymore. You guys are taking what I said and exploding it. I never said the game was ruining my life and I never said that playing the game will ruin your life. Most of the reason I'm responding in this thread is to reply to niko's idiotic comments. Tenka, you don't really play that much...you never did. So i don't see how it would really affect your social life all that much.

All I did was start a topic to see how people are doing and I get blasted. Awesome.

When I first said "you guys should stop the game before you start college..." I was replying to what core was saying. I mainly said it for omni, baha, and core cuz they are good guys and I'd rather they do well in life. Yea it's possible to do well in life and balance out your ffxi gaming, but it's not easy for -everyone-.

I enjoyed FFXI and I enjoyed most of the people in it. I don't feel as if I wasted my time. I just feel I could be spending my time better doing other things. I thought that maybe I'd say something as a little helpful suggestion to core, omni, and baha. When they responded, they weren't assholes about it. They know I only try to mean well for them.

And Niko didn't have to be such a jerk in replying to my first statement, tenka. I don't like when people (niko, and now you) manipulate what I say.

"it'll definitely ruin ur life and school like the way u put it Theref.."

*sigh*

like i said Theref ... i didn't say what u said is wrong in anyway...like i said...yes it is a fair warning to omni core and those who are entering college..

what i was saying in my last post was that Niko had a pt in what he said,,,
yes he might not hv put it in the most polite way....but with u all exploding on the comment he made...and saying that he's pointless i just thought i should voice my opinion too cos i agree with his point...

it's not of my intention to argue with u....i appreciate u coming back and visit the forum and talking to us...but i thought this topic could be more like a discussion with both of ur opinions accepted rather than a blatant 2-sided argument...and then everyone starts to scream...

All suggestions and opinions on this board I expect are to be regarded in a responsible manner, because we are all mature people in the linkshell.

When Theref said that FFXI inturrupted his normal lifestyle, I knew completely what he was saying, because things of that sort have happened to me already.

The only problem with nikos comment was that he made it sound like he was better than theref. Because of that, theref felt he had to defend himself. Don't compare yourself, just offer the advice.
